Sustainable
Life Project
Our culinary internship program for young adults who’ve grown out of foster care and into new lives on their own.
ApplyBetter Eating, Better Lives
Our chefs cook for you like you’re family—but not everyone’s family is the same. That’s why we started the Sustainable Life Project, a six-month, paid internship program for former foster youth interested in the culinary arts. They learn what it means to be part of a team and how to cook in a professional kitchen. And after the field trips, classes and workshops are done, they’re invited to apply for a job at Tender Greens.
Let's break
the cycle
52% of youth are unemployed within 4 years of leaving foster care. One in four will end up homeless in that span.
Here for
good
The Sustainable Life Project’s been going strong since 2009, and there’s no stopping now. Whether they stay with us or take their skills elsewhere, our interns have inspired and changed us more than they’ll ever know.
"No longer
a statistic,
no longer
a foster kid,
but a chef."
